Are you a fan of pop-up books? Have you ever wondered how they are made? Head on over to the Arts for All room and join us for some 3D fun! We’ll show you how to make a drawing look like it’s coming off the page and make creatures with mouths that open and close. All materials provided, just bring your imagination!




After visiting the Indiana Photographic Society exhibit, swing by the Arts for All room for some hands-on fun! Turn a normal picture into an outstanding 3D masterpiece. Find the perfect photo from a magazine, make a few cuts and watch it transform!

What is Arts for All?

If you haven’t made a face out of felt, you haven’t lived! The vivid colors capture your eye, and the way the felt sticks together makes it easy to arrange the perfect composition. We have several templates for hair, features, and accessories, or you can come up with your own designs. Ever feel like you’re falling to pieces? Well put yourself together again using colorful felt shapes and glue! Visit the GPAC during the Tina Lynch Wilson and Neil Hottle Exhibition and make a unique felt collage self-portrait that you can take home.

What is Arts for All?

The Garfield Park Arts Center is getting ready for this season’s Arts for All Outreach program! People of all ages are invited to join us at Indy Parks Family Centers around the city to explore performance, visual and language arts through fun, hands-on activities.
Dancing Like the Stars
Have some active fun as you sample classical ballet, modern, jazz and hip hop dance styles with teaching artist Nicole Hargro. Check the schedule below to find out when Nicole will be visiting a park near you!
Each program is from 6:00 – 8:00pm.

Let the mobile madness begin! Starting today, the Arts for All studio will feature various types of mobiles that you can design and hang up at home or at the GPAC. Using beads, string, craft foam, construction paper, and other supplies, we’ll create unforgettable artworks that hang beautifully and light up any room.

We love to laminate. Who knew it could be so fun? After putting together colorful compositions with cellophane, our visitors seal them up in plastic for a mess-free art project they can take home. Join us for our next Arts for All activity this weekend! In honor of the annual Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibition, visitors will have the chance to create their own abstract artwork.
After learning the difference between geometric and organic shapes, we’ll use colorful cellophane to put together interesting compositions. You can make a crazy abstract face using triangles and hearts, or a zany forest with star shaped trees. Come on over to the GPAC and show us your Abstractly Artistic side!

You’ve never seen paintings like these! Now through September 23, we are creating masterpieces in Arts for All using glue and colorful tissue paper; Painting with Paper!
